Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC)
Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) is an organization with a primary focus on legislative/policy advocacy, civil society capacity building and media engagement. CISLAC works to train and enlighten civil society actors across levels of government on policymaking, the responsibilities of the legislature and legislative engagement, and the existing policies and legislations.
CISLAC was incorporated with the Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on the 28th December 2006 (CAC/IT/NO22738). Prior to this incorporation, however, CISLAC had actively been engaged in policy and legislative advocacy work since 2005. The organization is registered and in compliant with the provisions of Section 5(1) (a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) is also compliant with the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2007 and reports to SCUML, any transaction that is above One thousand dollars. CISLAC is also registered with the National Planning Commission. In recognition of its broad perspective, CISLAC was granted an ECOSOC status by the United Nations in 2011 giving it the mandate and instrumentality of the United Nations. CISLAC is the national chapter of Transparency International (TI) in Nigeria.

A Nigeria in which citizens are participating in governance; the government is safeguarding the rights and welfare of the people; and non-state actors are providing space for citizens to demand accountability.
MISSION/PURPOSE
To increase the legislature and CSOs’ impact in the legislative process.
Since its establishment, CISLAC has implemented projects along its five (5) core thematic areas which includes anti-corruption, democratic governance, environmental conservation, health and human development and peace, security, migration and internally displaced persons. Public Finance Management (PFM) is a core pillar of the Anti-Corruption strategic focus area of CISLAC’s Strategic Plan. Over the years, CISLAC has contributed to promoting fiscal responsibility along the areas of debt and tax expenditure management.
