This publication presents a comprehensive analysis of COVID-19 recovery spending and policy measures in selected countries. It explores the categories of recovery spending, including corporate and social protection measures, as well as stimulus packages targeting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and the informal sector. Through a country-specific analysis, the publication examines the progress and challenges faced in implementing recovery policies. It highlights the experiences of Zambia, Uganda, South Sudan, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Kenya, Sierra Leone, and South Africa. The analysis reveals varying levels of effectiveness and responsiveness, with some countries demonstrating progressive spending despite economic difficulties, while others face limitations in providing adequate relief measures.
